PART 1: ATTENDANCE & ABSENCES

As stated on our forms, RSVPs to events cannot be cancelled once an RSVP form is submitted. It is your responsibility to verify your availability before submitting your request for seats.

Unless noted otherwise, all of our RSVP forms require a CSUF email address (your +1 guest, though, does not have to be affiliated with CSUF). If an RSVP form looks different from our standard format, it is likely the hosting studio’s own preferred form; in these cases, confirmation of your RSVP will come from them, and we will not have any further information to assist you.

The CTVA 102 calendar is fully extracurricular to your on-campus responsibilities, but it is still a university-sponsored program. As such, we adhere to the campus’ policies regarding unexcused absences from classes or exams: once an RSVP is submitted and our guest list reaches our studio partners, you are fully expected to attend that event, and an absence can be excused only in cases of medical or family emergency, with valid documentation sent to our email address.

Those who fail to redeem their RSVPs allow high-demand seats that were allocated to CSUF students to go to waste. Attendance is tracked by the hosting studio, and absences are held against you in all non-emergency circumstances, including (but not limited to):

• School, work, or personal conflicts
• Unexpected loss of transportation 
• Misjudgment of distance to the venue
• Change of heart 

If you arrive at a venue late and are denied entry, you may leave your name at the check-in table to be counted present — or better, send us a selfie (unmistakably at the event) for verification. Attendance penalties are issued to no-shows; however, you will not be penalized for making an earnest attempt to attend the event and sending verification afterward.

If you anticipate being unable to attend and wish to transfer your RSVP to someone else, you may email us at least 24 hours before the event; however, we cannot promise this as an option, as check-in protocols are at the discretion of the hosting studios.

We understand that absences may occur due to circumstances outside of your control. For this reason, we maintain a loose “Three Strikes” rule. After multiple absences and once we make a reasonable determination that you cannot be relied upon to redeem your RSVPs, future RSVP requests may be declined so that we can make room for other interested students.

PART 2a: BANS / PIRACY

Piracy involves recording any portion of a film, including its title sequence and end credits, via a photo, audio recording, or video recording. Students identified and reported to us by event security will receive an automatic and permanent ban from participating in our event program. Likewise, any students seen posting such content on social media will receive a permanent ban.

There are ZERO exceptions to this policy.

You are encouraged to photograph and post images from the event itself, such as the film’s title card (i.e., the still image on the screen prior to the screening), selfies, or any additional components featured at that event (such as a DJ, photo booth, performers, appearances from filmmakers and cast, etc.)

If you have a +1 guest, it is your responsibility to educate them of these policies; if they violate the policies, you will both receive a ban.

If you win an Instagram ticket giveaway for a film that is already in release and then post an on-screen image from that film, this is considered by CTVA 102 to be improper theater etiquette and will impact your chances of winning future raffles.

PART 2b: BANS / DISRESPECTFUL CONDUCT

All students attending screening events are representing the CSUF community and expected to behave in the most exemplary way possible. CTVA 102 has a zero-tolerance policy toward conduct that is deemed disrespectful or disruptive. Examples include (but are not limited to) the following real scenarios that have resulted in past students being banned from our program:

• Leaving disrespectful, disparaging, or hostile comments on a public post or sending abusive language in an email
• Spamming the CTVA 102 Instagram or email accounts
• Demanding preferential treatment regarding any aspect of the CTVA 102 program, including requesting access to giveaway items or advance information about screening dates and RSVP launch times
• Impersonating a CSUF student or alum to obtain access to CTVA 102’s events or giveaways
• Selling (or offering to sell) RSVP spots
• Violating a hosting studio’s stated protocols regarding confidentiality and review embargoes, revealing spoilers on social media, and so on
• Behaving in an improper, hostile, disrespectful, or illegal manner at a screening, including behavior toward the event & theater staff or fellow attendees before, during, or after a screening

This policy extends to your +1 guests. It is your responsibility to educate your guest of these policies; if they violate the policies, you will both receive a ban.

Please be aware that CTVA 102 facilitates opportunities for students to submit RSVPs, but we typically do not have staff present at these events. If you wish to report any troubling behavior that you encountered at an event, you may contact us about it, and we can forward the inquiry/complaint to the appropriate studio representative.

PART 3: SENDING PHOTOS

For red carpet premieres or other events that go beyond a typical advance screening, you may receive a follow-up email asking you to submit photos, videos, and selfies from that event. Some of these images may be selected for inclusion in our social media, either shortly after the event or in late December as part of a “Best of the Year” compilation.

The purpose of collecting these images is to showcase CSUF students engaged in unique activities, which helps to boost CSUF’s profile and encourages more students to participate in off-campus events. For this reason, selfies are considered the most valuable.

It is also part of an agreement with our studio partners to “give back” by helping to publicize and generate interest in their films; this is a minimum gesture of thanks for generously giving CSUF students opportunities to attend their events. As such, ignoring CTVA 102’s request for photos will be viewed as disrespectful conduct, as it evades expressing gratitude to our studio partners.

**The following policy is the newest addition to our Terms & Conditions.**

Students who ignore our requests to “give back” — thereby declining to acknowledge the hard work and generosity of our studio partners — will not receive a full ban from CTVA 102, but they may not be invited back to premieres and similar high-profile events. Conversely, those with strong track records of submitting dynamic and usable photo and video content may be entitled to advance notice of future RSVP opportunities or receive private invitations to events before they go public to CTVA 102’s followers.

Please note, because premieres are busy and often chaotic events, attendance data may not always be reliable. Submission of photos/videos is a sure way to verify your attendance at the event and avoid having a “strike” against you.
